As a VMware Engineer, the individual will support the implementation, management, and maintenance of the VMware/VDI infrastructure and solutions. In this role, the Engineer will work independently or in a team environment. Additionally, the individual will collaborate with engineers from both the Network Engineer and Systems Engineer teams to support a wide range of environments and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and manages Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technology, especially with VMware's products including Horizon View, vSphere, ESXi
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert on technical matters related to VMware Horizon 7.x
  • Installs, configures, and administers large complex Horizon VDI environments
  • Analyzes logs, tracks and resolves complex issues using tools like vROPs, Stratusphere, Aternity, etc.
  • Scripting and uses automation to streamline operations
  • Works with other teams (i.e. networking, storage, server operations, and security)
  • Provides on-site support to unclassified and classified environments
  • Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Security+ Certification
  • 5 or more years’ experience VMWare Horizon relevant to this position
  • Must be able to receive and maintain a personnel security clearance
  • Must have prior experience with installing, configuring, large complex Horizon VDI environments
  • Must have prior experience with vSphere and vCenter
  • Strong knowledge of the VDI image build process and management
  • Must possess previous technical acumen 
  • Deep prior knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies to provide SME level troubleshooting on technical matters related to VMware Horizon
  • Ability to Script and use automation 
  • Must be able to multitask on several projects and prioritize work to support mission and customer requirements

Preferred Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of networking including VLAN, switching, and VDI ports/protocols
  • Familiar with thin and zero clients
  • Solid understanding of Windows Active Directory, SCCM, and GPOs
  • Experience with vSphere and vCenter consolidation and upgrades

Travel

  • Able and willing to travel up to 75%
  • Work from home 25%
