Cyber Security Analyst II - Validator

Location:Charleston, SC

As a Cyber Security Analyst I- Validator, the individual will be responsible for providing cyber security guidance, research emerging technologies, developing risk assessments and scanning/checking for system vulnerabilities.


  • Conducts FISMA assessments of cybersecurity control compliance in accordance with DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, CNSSI 1253 and the Cybersecurity Strategy
  • Initiates and prepares Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages; ensures existing C&A and A&A packages are maintained in a compliant status; verifies and validates C&A and A&A package requirements and configuration modifications are performed and tested
  • Reviews system engineering documentation, CONOPS, installation and configuration specifications to determine security requirements and to identify security concerns
  • Prepares briefing slides, status charts and support documentation as presentations for the client
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly updates describing the tasks status in accordance to report template
  • Reviews RMF artifacts (e.g. SSP, POA&M, MOU/MOA, topology, network architecture, PPSM, policies and procedures, HW/SW lists.) for RMF compliance in accordance
  • Performs risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle
  • Supports CT&E or DT&E activities of system security engineering and program protection activities
  • Drafts authorization artifacts in accordance with customer requirements
  • Continues education and learning new and evolving technology
  • Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Must be able to receive or maintain active Personnel Security Clearance
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of Cybersecurity professional experience
  • Must have an active DoD certification (Security + CE, CAP, or GSLC)
  • Must meet or exceed OPNAVINST 5239 requirements to be certified as Navy-Intermediate Qualified Validator
  • Ability to receive and maintain Navy NQV Level II
  • Ability to receive and maintain Navy NQV Level II Registry
  • Exposure to IT governance, risk management, and compliance practices

Preferred Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Solid understanding of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies associated with the computer and network security, incident response and digital forensics.

  • Completed Navy RMF training

  • Preferred Certifications: CCNA, MCSE, AWS, MCSA, DBA

  • Fleet Cyber Command experience
